Subject: Nanci was HOT in Mass.
The Lenox, Mass concert was last night and let me say, Nanci was in top
form! She seemed really happy. The last two times we saw her in concert
here in New England, it was also in the spring, and she was suffering from
allergies in a big way.
She was introduced by - get this - DICK CLARK!!!! The concert was to
benefit the National Music Foundation. Dick is the Chairman. It was a
nice surprise.
Nanci did most of the songs that were done at the Washington, DC show with
a couple of extras including an acapella piece that was John Denver's
first hit (she did it in his memory). That was the first encore. The
second encore was "This Heart." Her opening act performer was Frank
Christian who was a fantastic guitarist. He wrote "Three Flights Up." He
performed that one with Nanci, LeAnn Ethridge (Pat Maceneary's wife), Pat,
and Lee Satterfield also performed.
Anyway, it was terrific to see her again. One interesting tidbit that was
shared with us last night was that Lee dropped from the tour last year for
a while because she donated a kidney to her mom. That was touching.
Just wondering if any other of you "netters" were there?
Pam

Subject: Nanci in London
Hi,
I've heard that Nanci is doing shows in London at the Barbican Centre on
Sunday the 29th & Monday the 30th of November. Tickets are now on sale. Box
office UK is 0171 638 8891. Sorry I don't know the code for the UK from
abroad. It's billed as Nanci Griffith & special guests. I understand there
might be quite a few guests so it looks like this is something fairly big,
probably in connection with the release of OV Too.
Best wishes,
Dave.

Dear all,
Wahoo! Big thanks to Dave Riley for the info....
I've got me a couple of tickets...anyone else from the UK planning on going
to the Sunday gig? The (very) helpful lady in the box office told me that
they were selling out of the good seats pretty fast (well she would say that
I know - but she sounded sooooo sincere!- she said "what kind of music is that"
- I said "kinda country folk thing" and she said "why do I know her name?" and
I said "erm...probably becasue she sang From A Distance" and she started singin
it down the phone at me!) Anyway I'm in row K somewhere which is close enough
for me...
Anyway thats all I wanted to say...
Wahoo!!!

Subject: November Concerts
Hi folks
May I just say a big "thank-you" to whoever wrote in letting us know about
the London concert. It enabled me to get a Row H seat for the Monday 30
November Show. If the show is in the Barbican Hall I have been in then the
seating is raked above the stage unlike the Albert Hall where one is either
at ground level looking up or sitting way back and in rafters! A more
congenial venue I think.
I was speaking last night to a member of The Blue Moon Orchestra who tells
me that it will be a great night as there are some wonderful guests. The
big gigs are in London, Glasgow, and Dublin, with the "guests" but there
are other concerts with just Nanci and the BMO......I know not where but
watch out for them.

Can anyone tell me the www address for Nanci's web site? She mentioned at
the concert in Massachusetts that she reads the posts on her web site and
occasionally annonymously writes in.
Thanks!

Ian isn't kidding when he says to watch out for Nanci and BMO gigs. Just
when i had resigned myself to not seeing Griffith this year, I found out
yesterday that tickets went on sale last Friday for a show June 23 at the
Snowbird Ski Resort, which is the best outdoor venue in the area, in my
opinion. She played there shortly before LNGH was released; i still
remember the searing version of "San Diego Serenade"---and how much
stronger it was live than on the record. It's at a higher elevation, of
course, than Red Butte Garden, where Miss G., if James wasn't kidding,
suffered a heat stroke and he had blisters from playing such hot keyboards.
