Subject: New Nanci music on Oxford American

Hello Nancinetters!

[Regarding Beth Herron's message:
"Oxford American is releasing a special issue about
southern music - a 50 year history, and to be included on this album is
a new Nanci song called "Dress of Laces." The song actually is written
by Eric Taylor, and Lyle Lovett appears with Nanci on the recording.]

"Dress of Laces" was written by John Grimaudo & Saylor White. Nanci
recorded this song for her new OV, Too album and sings it there with Eric
Taylor and Lyle Lovett.

Subject: New CD from WFMA

Good news for Nanci fans! The 1996 11th annual World Folk Music Association
Benefit Concert which was previously only available on cassette tape has
just been reissued on CD. The tape features Nanci on two live recordings
available nowhere else.... Boots of Spanish Leather performed with Carolyn
Hester and Across the Great Divide. Along with the between song chatter
it's a little over 11 minutes of essential Nanci. You'll also find live
cuts by nine other artists including a wonderful Catie Curtis performnce of
Dad's Yard. I was told by the folks at WFMA about a year ago that they
might put this out as a CD... my patience has been rewarded!

Subject: Your opinion matters!

Attention all,

For all of you Kate Campbell fans out there, you now have a way to occupy a
few idle moments. Take a stroll, sail, or surf in your browser (Netscape 2
or better) and head to Bruce Armstrong's wonderful Kate Campbell pages:

http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/~ac490/kate.html

there you will see a link to a "survey" (oh joy, oh rapture). You will
have the opportunity to cast your ballot and choose your five (in no
particular order) favorite Kate songs (from any of her three albums). All
those who fill out the survey before June 30 will be entered in a random
drawing for some neat "Official Kate Stuff" (TBD). Be sure to supply a
valid email address, that is how the winner will be contacted.

There are also a few questions which will help Kate to better understand
her audience, please answer as many as you can.

Thanks to Bruce for getting me involved and Kate Campbell for wanting to know.

Subject: Nanci in the News

Just thought y'all might want to know...

Ms Nanci appears twice in the May 29 Summer Music Preview edition of
Entertainment Weekly. She is listed as part of the Newport Folk Festival
Tour, as follows:

"If you took Lilith's singer-songwriter sensibility but ditched its No Boyz
Aloud policy, the lineup might look like this: Lyle Lovett, Nanci Griffith,
Alison Krauss, John Hiatt, Joan Baez, Wilco, Suzanne Vega, Loudon
Wainwright III, Lucinda Williams and Jimmie Dale Gilmore. That's the
tantalizing lineup for the first touring Newport Folk Festival..."

She's also mentioned in a list of artists with new albums out this summer:
July 21 for OVORII.

Can't wait!!

Hi All!

To Debbie in Phoenix ~

I don't know if it's my Celtic roots (I'm Scottish), or if it's just because
it was the first Nanci album I got, but for my money, her very best (excluding
"Flyer" which is in a class of its own, and holds a special place in my heart
as my "coming out" album)
is "Little Love Affairs". From the sheer variety of songs to the versatility
of voice she displays on this album....everything is perfect.

But hey, lets be honest ~ you could go and pick virtually any Nanci album you
haven't already got and not be disappointed! Whatever you choose, hope you
enjoy it!

Hi:

Still haven't been able to confirm the Glasgow dates (Nov 26/27) with
any ticket agent.

My holiday's (vacation) this year include New York, Las Vegas,
Scottsdale AZ and Sedona AZ. We are in LV from June 30th to July 4th and
Marylin, my dear wife, checked the net for artists appearing in Vegas
June/July - Nanci is listed as appearing at the Hard Rock Hotel on the
25th of June (do I have bad timing or what?).

Could I ask Rob S (sorry Rob) if he has any more details about the
Glasgow concert

Subject: Another Nanci Show: 9/20 in LA

Just read on another list (Richard Thompson) that Nanci is booked for the
Newport Folk festival (road version) in Los Angeles on Sept. 20 at the Greek
Theater. The list of performers was similar to Jeff Qualls post about the
same tour in Raliegh, NC.
Hmmmm maybe a road trip in the fall....
