Subject: NN: Welsh lineage
From: Huwcyn@aol.com
Does anybody here know Nanci's genealogy?
I am following up the belief that she has Welsh grandparents or
G/grandparents, and would like any information which could start me on my way
to researching her Welsh descent.
Please e-mail me with any info.
Thanks, and it is nice to see such a caring and sensitive community on net, as
I have come across since subscribing here.
Love you
Huw

// From the FAQ file all NN subscribers receive:
// Q. When is Nanci coming to my town?
// A. Known concert dates are posted on the Gulf Coast Highway

// Note that the days of nonstop world
// tours are likely over due to Nanci's semi-retirement.

Subject: NN: a new album?
From: tsanch@lsumc.edu (Sanchez, Tanya)
Hi Everyone,
Obviously, I've not been keeping up with things these days as I missed
the talk about Nanci recording a cd in April. This is great news.
Could someone send me an update about this? I want to know all the
details (if there are any.)
Are Nanci's retirement plans melting away? Has she had a change of
heart? I hope so!
Tanya

in comments on Nanci's track.

From: "Lorrie Chase" (lchase@webshoppe.net>
Hi guys. A few years ago a friend of mine found out that I was a Nanci
friend and he
recorded me a tape from one of his. Now days, I pride myself on having all of
her "stuff",
but I've never ran across this album again. Maybe you can help me. WHAT IS
IT????? These
songs are on it (the guy that made this for me did'nt write down any titles,
we've lost touch,
so I'm guessing. It has (in no particular order) Roseville Fair, A year down
in New Orleans,
Where does the Love go when it dies, the last song is Spin on the red brick
floor. That's all
I can remember right this minute. Can anyone help???
Any NN's in Alabama?????

Dear Lorrie --
I'm sure I won't be the first to tell you that the album in question is ONCE
IN A VERY BLUE MOON, Nanci's 1986 album on Philo. It has some true Nanci
greats -- like Love Is a Hard Waltz, Ballad of Robin Winter-Smith, Mary &
Omie, and the title song.
I think I'll go put it on right now!

Hi Lorrie,
I think you must have Once In A Very Blue Moon. It was
released in 1990. Here's the track list:
01. Ghost In The Music
02. Love Is A Hard Way
03. Roseville Fair
04. Mary & Omie
05. Friend Out In The Madness
06. I'm Not Drivin' These Wheels (Bring The Prose To The Wheel)
07. Time Alone
08. Ballad Of Robin Winter-Smith
09. Daddy Said
10. Once In A Very Blue Moon
11. If I Were The Woman You Wanted
12. Year Down In New Orleans
13. Spin On A Red Brick Floor
Warm Regards,
-Shawn

Hi,
Should've known better than to fire a message off so
quickly. John Graveling sent me a back-channel note
pointing out my grave mistake of saying OIAVBM was released
in 1990. It was, of course, released in 1984 on vinyl and
1990 is the release year for the CD version. (I think.)
Warm Regards,
-Shawn

"One Fair Summer Evening" and "Once In A Very Blue Moon" albums both have
the songs Roseville Fair and Spin On A Red Brick Floor
But the "Once In A Very Blue Moon' album has the song Year Down In New
Orleans.

Subject: NN: Updates
From: "Robert Pugsley" (RMP6@leicester.ac.uk>
Hello y'all,
I've never actually been in work when messages turn up...it's about 6.00pm
here in the UK, I guess it's daytime in the States...I 'do' childcare in the
afternoons so I miss stuff turning up and people have ususally replied by the
time I get my mail...
There seems to be a lot of catching up going on around here...
Here's what I can remember.
No gigs planned for 1999, but recording album with London Symphony Orchestra
in April in London. Nanci says next lot of gigs might be just her, a piano and
guitar (in Texas Monthly). This might be news to James Hooker who's told NNers
that the BMO may be touring in about a year...of course, he's probably going
to be getting
the piano player gig s0 he shouldn't worry too much...
Her novel might come out this year (where have I heard that before?).
We are all eagerly (!) awaiting the remix project...what has happened to
RoyRede?
Anything else? Well I messed up the tape exchange this year, I sent my
exchangee a tape I was supposed to send another friend, so instead of getting
alt.country and some nice ambient stuff, she got rap (old rap at that!), dodgy
lyrics, some very weird stuff courtesy of Thurston Moore and I don't now what
else! She's been real polite about it but I just know that thrash metal is
not her thing! :-)
OK, stop rambling, I'm supposed to be here working...
All the best
Robert (Pugsley)

Subject: NN: MOJO - Review of book
From: "Zac Tullett" (Zac.Tullett@eclipse.co.uk>
Hi y'all,
There's a review of Nanci's book in this month's MOJO magazine - one
column's worth.
It's generally positive, but I think the reviewer wanted something a little
different.
I'll try to remember to bring the mag into work tomorrow for a couple of
snippets!
Cheers,
Zac.
