   From: "Pugsley, R.M." (rmp6@leicester.ac.uk>

Just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying the old NN at
the moment, there's seems to be so much 'stuff' going on,
and the UK gigs are still 3 (Sheffield) or 4 (Albert Hall)
months away...

Anyway, a few comments...if any UK fans are hesitating I
would wholeheartedly recommend the Albert Hall gig. I
saw Nanci there (a long time ago) and the whole thing was
just fab (although not quite as fab as seeing Ella Fitzgerald
there, but that's another story). As a venue it was looking a
bit tatty the last time I was there but it has grandeur (as well
as weird flying saucers on the ceiling).

I also think 'Revisited' is great and hilarious at the same time.

Poor old Ashley MacIsaac, I can't really say I feel sorry for him,
after all he did spend $75000 on one of Elvis Presleys cars, but
quite clearly from reading the interviews recently he's showing
clear signs of taking the wrong kinds of drugs and way too many
of 'em...why don't managers/agents/record companies do their
artists a favour and get them some help? Could it be that no publicity
is bad publicity?

And lastly, I was in a sleep-deprived haze the other day when I read
the NN digest but did someone say they were in a communal hottub
watching the moon? What kind of vile perversion is this? Please send pix.

;-)

Sorry to bother the net with something like this, but...

Is there a kind soul across the pond willing to pick up a Superbowl
Programme for me? I've just found out that the Programmes, which are usually
available in the larger towns in the UK, have not been picked up for
distribution this year.

As always, I'll pay for the item and postage, or respond in kind - your
choice!

Thanks

Hey Nansters,

Check your local listings, but ours here indicate that John Prine & Iris
Dement are going to be on Sessions at West 54th Saturday night...perhaps
we'll even have power to see it, but who knows.

Cate, is it snowing yet? in Atlanta

Interesting John Alvord bringing up Matthew Ryan. I bought his cd on the back
of Nanci raving about him in an interview. Wow!! what a talent, great songs,
great playing. I hope he perserveres at his music, because he deserves
success. If you get a chance to buy "Mayday" anywhere, do so, you will
not be disappointed.

   From: MISTERCD@webtv.net (SID PORTER)

I got my tickets today to see Nanci in Tarrytown on 3/10 and
Kingston on 3/18, as well as tickets to see Lucy Kaplansky on 3/12 in
Middletown, NY. I think it will take me, at least, the rest of the year
to come back down after that 9 day period.

Well, by the time I remembered, Richard Allinson's show was already an hour
old, so I only heard the end of the interview and her doing "If I Had a
Hammer". How long was she on? Gotta remember to write these things down.

A little disappointing really. She was only on for about 16 minutes and
only did two songs: Trouble In The Fields and If I Had A Hammer.

Subject: NN: great tickets from history...+ Nanci on UK radio
   Date: Fri, 28 Jan 2000 10:12:32 -0000
   From: "Pugsley, R.M." (rmp6@leicester.ac.uk>

My tickets finally arrived. Why they took five day to travel 100
miles I do not know and it turns out I'm in row 5 not 4 as I thought,
but I think I can live with that...

The close proximity to the star reminded me of the greatest tickets
I ever had which were row 2 in the middle for a k d lang concert
in Birmingham (England). There was me, another guy and a few
thousand women and when kd appeared (behind a big billowing
see-through curtain) it was like The Beatles at Shea Stadium. Being
that close I really appreciated the reason why 1) some stars love being
on stage 2) some get totally spooked by it. It was both scary and
exhilarating...it was also the only time I have ever seen undergarments
being thrown on stage...

Also Nanci was on british radio last night, in the end there was only
two songs Trouble in the Fields and If I Had A Hammer and a lot of
chat of a fairly innocuous nature (this was late night Radio 2 after all)
but Nanci sounded happy enough and said that she was going to play
more concerts at the Albert Hall in September.

Well it's too bad you missed Nanci here in Pittsburgh last December.
Sure was chilly walking back to the parking garage though.

   From: Paul Larsen (paul@davisnet.net>

Just a quick reminder - the deadline for submitting your rankings of
Nanci's albums is Monday. Again (in case you just joined us), this is an
effort to create a list of albums in order of preference according to the
members of the NanciNet who choose to participate. Once I have compiled
this information, I will then submit it to be placed on the FAQ to more
accurately portray our preferences as a community. So pull those old Nanci
albums off the shelf, give them another spin this weekend, and send me your
rankings - as though you have nothing better to do. :)

Have a great weekend!
