Oh darn. I'd so hoped she'd end the tour last night
with a rousing rendition of the Will Fyfe song, better
know to American folkies because of Ramblin' Jack
Elliot's version, I BELONG TO GLASGOW. I even emailed
the chorus to Lee Satterfield last week, but I guess
she couldn't persuade anybody.
I belong to Glasgow
Dear old Glasgow town
But there's something the matter with Glasgow for
It's spinning round and round
I'm just your average working lad
As anyone here can see
But when I've had a drink on a Saturday night
Glasgow belongs to me.
Now THAT'LL make you rush to the pub to beat closing
time.
Anyway, now that Glasgow's heard her, can we Americans
have Nanci back?

Blue Bell is a treat I'll look forward too, but one word of caution for
those of you who might be experiencing Krispy Kreme for the first time.
Don't start with the gas station/convienience store variety. The best (for
me, the only) way to truely enjoy a Krispy Kreme doughnut is to stop by the
shop where they make them when the big, red "hot light" is ON! They take
them right off the conveyor, just after they're coated with hot, liquid
sugar, and place them immediately, side by side, in a big flat box. When
they're hot, they literally melt in your mouth. Ahhh.

I'm just back from a much needed vacation to the Gulf coast. I spent the
weekend on St. George Island doing nothing but fishing, sitting on the front
porch watching the surf, and writing a little. Coming back through Atlanta
today, I started looking forward to the Red Light Cafe gig and getting to
meet, or become reacquainted with many of you folks. I'm also wondering if
some of the past attendees are going to make it. Bruce, can we twist your
arm? Gin, will you be turning up? Bill Page, is Atlanta too far? Amy,
have you hitched up the reindeer? Kenn, you're bringing the beer aren't
you? Kelly, are your Taylor's tuned? What's happened to Lisa and Jeff?
John, aren't there direct flights from London to Atlanta? Donna, do you
still see Moonpies in your dreams? Bill, I know some great private bass
lakes outside the Perimeter. Richard, can we count on you for photos? And
what about the folks who've wanted to come in the past but couldn't?
Really, this is a fantastic opportunity, ya'll come!

The downtown Atlanta Krispy Kreme factory is only about twelve blocks
from the Red Light. Just head south on Monroe, turn left on Ponce De
Leon, and you're there.

Hi, all,
Awhile back, somewhere or other (maybe even on this list) I thought I
saw a passing reference to Nanci being at the Philadelphia Folk
Festival this year. I finally got around to checking it out and sure
enough she is in the lineup. The Festival is the last weekend in
August: 25, 26, and 27. I have lived in the Philadelphia area a large
part of my life but for various reasons have never made it to the
Folk Festival. Well, friends, this is going to change! Anybody
thinking of going to the Festival this year, let me know, maybe we
can carpool (I have a handicapped permit so if you go with me we can
park in the handicapped spaces :-) )

I think I may have posted this before..not
sure if it made it or not...but if you want
to know if any artist of your interest has
booked a new venue, you can sign up at
pollster.com with all of your favorite artists.
They will send you an email the moment your
artists have added a new date.
Been very helpful to me as I was able to get
Iris Dement seats in Chicago before they were
publicly announced in the papers. By the time
it made the papers and mags, they were sold out!
Go to:
http://www.pollstar.com/
And choose all of your artists.
If you do not want to sign up, you can
just type in an artist of interest and
of course it will give you the information.
Does not tell you how to get the tickest...but
with a few clicks on a search engine, you will
figure out how to get the tickets.
Have a great time at your concert....

Hi! I've been on the list for just a few weeks and have been enjoying all
the reviews of the gigs 'cross the pond. I also enjoyed the photos that Hans
posted on his site and was especially pleased to see, in addition to the
Nanci phots, the pictures of Buddy Miller from an earlier show. I was
fortunate to have caught Buddy and Julie just a couple of weeks ago as they
came through San Francisco. What a concert! They could have played all
night and I would have been perfectly happy. Hans, your photos brought a
little bit of that back!
I've been a fan of Nanci's for only a couple of years and have really
grown to love so many of her songs. Last year I saw her in concert for the
first time. It was the highlight of my year! Couldn't get that goofy smile
off my face for a week! I figured I wasn't going to get to see her this year
and had settled on the Miller show and an Emmylou concert coming up in a
couple of weeks. But now I've discovered this morning that Nanci's going to
be up at Stanford University (Frost Ampitheater) on the 16th of July! I
didn't know anything about this until now! Anybody got any other info on the
show? Is it sold out? Cost? etc. If it's not sold out, I'd sure love to be
there!
Be God's,
Janet

Take your choice on what you want to do or how
to procede....please let us know how the
concert goes!

Subject: NN: Anybody out there?

Hey Nancinet!
I miss reading prolific and interesting commentaries. This list has been
slow for a couple of days. I know I haven't been much for the contribution
lately, (I'm an avid gardener trying to keep up with all of the rain and
corresponding pests we've had here in the Midwest), but do love reading about
unnecessary plastic objects and the like.
I work in corporate America (I'm not even in the mood to address the vileness
of that situation), and as far as I'm concerned, we have to keep the values
that Nanci espouses alive. Somehow, a song echoing "Trouble in these
Factories" just doesn't have the same meaning to me as "Trouble in These
Fields." Guess that comes from a woman who would rather have dirt between
her nails than polish on them. I'll stop short of waxing philosophical...
Just praising a great folk artist and looking forward to more fun with ya'll!
Cate, Brina, Donate...Cheers, ladies!
Vicki
