Is there a forum for selling tickets for Nanci concerts?
I have bought 2 tickets too many for the RAH concert in London
and want to sell them.
Thanks,
Barry Broomberg

> Anton mentioned the "O Brother" soundtrack
Funny you should mention this, Anton. I've had the soundtrack for a while
but didn't actually see the movie until this past weekend. I thoroughly
enjoyed the movie -- from beginning to end. Even my 17- year old and
her friends enjoyed it and they are interested in "hillbilly music"
now... which should fit in greatly with their punk and rock
repertoire... :):)
I also meant to extend my warmest thoughts to all of you who have kindly
shared your Fathers Day messages with us. My heart goes out to each of
you. We buried my father-in-law at Arlington Cemetery almost 6 years ago
and the pain of his loss hasn't gotten any easier for us. Emmylou
Harris' "Bang the Drum Slowly" has had a special meaning to us. My own
father is still alive at 81 in Germany, but not doing too well healthwise.
It is killing me that I cannot take care of him here in the U.S. I dread
the day that I will get that call from overseas......
May Shawn's beautiful song give comfort to all of you. Blessings to
everyone!

From: "Robert Arl." (rtaafa@isoc.net>
I just heard the first three cuts of "clock without hands" on the Wednesday
Premiere program on WNKU out of Highland Heights, KY. I don't think I've
heard anything more beautiful this year. Slower tempo songs with minimal
production, and no vocal tics. Since I didn't hear the complete CD, I
can't compare in to any other nanci CD. But songs like "There's a Light
Beyond These Woods (Mary Margaret)," "Workin' in Corners," Once in a Very
Blue Moon," etc, come to mind. My gut feeling is the complete CD will have
a sound like the Philo records. And that ain't bad. *S* I'll be hearing
a lot more of "Clock...." on WNKU before the official release day of July
31.
Take care,
Robert in KY

It is quite something to hear Nanci's voice sing these
new songs...like stories from a newly carved wooden
flute. I have been looking forward to this.
Thank you all for the heads up on the radio play of
nanci's songs. i've never listened to radio on the
internet and i just can't even explain the day i had
yesterday working at the computer, listening to the
best station in the world (wncw) from 400 miles away.
thanks,
molly

Here's a question (stupid one, probably)
if all these radio stations have the album and all these people have
advanced copies
then why the hell are us normal people- ie. people not connected with a
station and or media representation- waiting until August for the thing?
It's still June, last time I checked. Why didn't the album come out as
planned in May?
-again, excuse my non-record company- knowlegde.

Subject: NN: Paul Simon/Brian Wilson (no ng content)

From: Poetmuse@aol.com
hi there fellow listers-
Just saw Paul Simon and Brian Wilson last night in Phoenix- and had a blast!
It was my first time for seeing Paul and he didn't disappoint. I've probably
been a fan since I was 10. Gee, 20 years ago. lol Let me assure you, age has
not slowed the man down. He played to the crowd like the pro he is. He was
in
fine voice and the songs were great. Mixing his new with old was great. He
played two old favorites of mine- I am a Rock and The Boxer, that just blew
me away. The dust storm that came in as he was doing "Diamonds on the Soles
of Her Feet" was very appropro and really made the crowd come alive
(probably
because it cooled the air!). He did two encores and every song was just....
perfect. I highly suggest catching him this year- he's in top form.
Brian Wilson was fine as well, although not as big a fan of his as I am of
Mr. Simon's- his backing band is excellent and his harmonies with the other
singers sounds just like the Beach Boys to these ears. The old favorites
really came alive. Although it was a bit weird to be dancing around to songs
older than I am. LOL
All in all a great concert and even though I was sort of stuck in the back,
I
still had a great time. :)
Gee, I wish I could write a Nanci review next.
hopin, and wishin and prayin-
Christina

Subject: NN: Heads up Austinites and Houstonites!

From: Bill Peete (billpeet@cruzio.com>
Dear Nancinuts,
I realize this is extremely short notice and has minimal Nanci content
but...
Our favorite band is making their first Texas appearance in seven years in
the fine cities of Austin and Houston!
The details...
Eddie From Ohio will be appearing...
Thursday, June 21 Cactus Cafe, Austin 8:30pm
Friday, June 22 Mucky Duck, Houston 8:00pm
Trust me on this one everyone! This group kicks butt!
Our first experience with this group was when we went to the RMFF in 1997 to
see Nanci (that's the Nanci content. The lineup that year was amazing! The
only unknown group (to me anyway) in the lineup for the three day event was
EFO and I thought... great time to go into town and get a bite to eat. We
decided to hang around a few minutes to see what we would be missing and I
was totally blown away! The tightness of this group... the harmonies, Julie
Murphy Well's lead vocals will blow you away too.
Also, if you happen to be in Houston on June 23, Denice Franke will be
performing at Anderson Fair for the final show before summer sabatical. This
should be a fantastic show too!
Slainte,
~bill
