Sue Peete has designated the National Foundation for Transplants for Maggie
Heenie ("There's a Light Beyond These Woods (Mary Margaret)") for anyone who
would like to make any charitable donations in Bill's memory.
The on-line from accessible from the National Foundation for Transplants Web
site is the best way for people to donate to Maggie's fund. That URL is:
http://www.transplants.org/
Follow the link in the upper right corner for donations. The form has a
drop-down with patients' names. Maggie is listed as Heenie Margaret Graham.
If people prefer to send donations in the mail, the checks should be mailed,
payable to National Foundation for Transplants, to:

If people write Maggie's name and include "in memory of Bill Peete" in the
"memo" part of the check, NFT will send Sue a list of donors.
Thanks to Marty Welch for figuring out the donation info.

I've been subscribed to the list for about two years now. I'm one of those
invisible people who never posts (this is my first) but who reads everything
that comes through each day.
Still this came as a shock to me, as I know Bill's name from so many posts
that I've seen. Such a "nice" guy and so often talking sense (when some
others weren't!)
Unlike some of the others who have posted in the last few days, I never knew
him or met him, but my heart goes out to his wife & family. For someone I
didn't know, I shall miss him but this list will miss him so much more.
Rest in peace Bill.

Bill's funeral will begin in about 20 minutes. If there are any
NanciNetters on line right now, let's take a little time between 2:30 and
3:00 and spend a moment of silence, or send our prayers and thoughts his way
to help him on his journey across the Great Divide.

Just wanted to add my voice to the chorus of condolences to Sue and Bill
Peete's family, friends and many loved ones. His was a truly unique voice.
His comments here on Nancinet over the years have influenced my opinions
countless times on such matters as the meaning of Nanci's lyrics,
friendship, and even life itself. Would that he could pass along to us the
answers that he now holds. He will be sorely missed.

I am just back on the list after a trip to Texas. I am saddened by Bill's
death, and Vince and I both send our condolences to Sue. We met them in
Atlanta, too, and feel fortunate today that we had that wonderful
opportunity. Sue, if there is anything you need...

As a long time but rarely posting Netter, I would like to add my condolences
on the tragic passing of Bill Peete. Like most of this wonderful group, I
never had the honor of meeting him nor Sue yet I, too, feel a real
connection and profound sense of loss at his passing and one of deep
sympathy for Sue and the rest of the Peete family.
This online community that we have made goes well beyond the virtual. These
feelings that we are all sharing at this time are substantial and most
certainly real. The cumulative words and thoughts of support and sympathy
travelling across the wires to that part of California are surely a warm
source of comfort for Bill's family.
I feel fortunate to be a small part of this community. Maybe family is a
better word.
Thank you to all in the NanciNet family for being there and sending that
love out over the ether to where it is needed most. Bill Peete has been a
big part of this worldwide beating heart. Let that be amongst his tributes.

Upon first hearing about Bill's death, in shock, I sent a short condolence
message. Now I want (need) to say more.
I've been on NanciNet for six years and in that time have had the chance and
did meet some wonderful people. I can't name them all, but a short list
includes John Graveling, Shawn Kimbro, Amy McKibbin, Ken Lippert, Bill and
Dawn Marie Page, Bruce Miller, Sarah Wrightson and Vince, Steve Robertson,
Cate (in Atlanta), Marty Welch, Kelly Sanderson (where is she anyway?), and
I could go on and on. Every one is as nice as they appear online.
I've read the touching stories several have told about their times with Bill
and Sue. I just wish I had one to tell. I'm saddened to say I had the chance
and did not meet Sue and Bill Peete. A couple of years ago my husband and I
vacationed in San Francisco. We did the touristy things -- wandered around
Fisherman's Wharf, rode the trolley up the hill and walked back down, toured
the Winchester Mystery House, and shopped in the Stanford Mall. We had
dinner with the Millers and flew back home. Quite a lot packed into a three
day weekend, and not enough time to drive to Scotts Valley to see Bill and
Sue. Back home, I wrote Sue telling her how close we had come. Her response
was, "Oh, I was not far from the mall that day. We would have met you
there!" We promised to meet the next time. There won't be a next time to
meet Bill, and I am so sorry. The take home lesson is: If you ever get the
chance to meet one of the wonderful people on this list, don't pass it up!
My mother died suddenly the week before Easter. It is normal to outlive your
parents; it's something we expect to happen and dread, but it was still
terrible. I can only imagine the pain that Sue is feeling. The sudden death
of Bill, Sue's spouse, best friend, and soul mate would be exponentially
more traumatic than anything I can imagine. Sue will need the comfort of
friends for a long time. Let's not let her down.
Sue put a lot of time and effort in maintaining a CD exchange, the entire
profits going to Maggie Graham Heenie's (Mary Margaret's) fund with the
National Foundation for Transplants. She has asked that any memorials for
Bill be sent to Maggie's fund. (Susan Krauss posted a link to this
organization.) As soon as I press *send* that is what I'm going to do.

happy) Rose Jeanes

I figure there are many on this list that were fans of Dave Carter. I
regret to share the news of his passing. He and Tracy Grammar were
highly regarded in many folk circles. The only information I have is
that he passed away at a festival in Massachusetts.

Dave passed away prior to the festival, Larry. He had been jogging that
morning, felt ill, and died in his hotel room. Tracy was with him.
