FORT APACHE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
www.fortapache.net
Description of Business
Fort Apache is a multifaceted company specializing in music production and
artist management. Starting out as a recording studio, we have been in
business for fifteen years and in that time we have recorded innumerable
albums for popular groups. Our clients come from all over the world and,
since our inception, we have focused our work on what is popularly called
"alternative" music.
Fort Apache also provides personal management services to 7 celebrated and
developing recording artists: Natalie Merchant, Tanya Donelly (Belly and
Throwing Muses), Lori McKenna, Juliana Hatfield, The So and So's (Meghan
Toohey), Bill Janovitz (Buffalo Tom), and Fuzzy. We are responsible for all
aspects of these artists' musical careers and deal on a daily basis with a
number of international music companies.
As members of the international music community, we at Fort Apache believe
that our business offers a bird's eye view of the global music industry and
provides an invaluable learning experience for those interested in the
behind the scenes action in this business of music.
Description of Position
We at Fort Apache firmly believe that an integrated approach to internship -
in which the intern participates in all aspects of the business - best
explains the width and breadth of careers in the music industry. We are
seeking motivated and enthusiastic self-starters with upbeat personalities
to fill positions in our artist management office.
Qualified individuals will assist our management staff with the office's
daily operations and with our clients' current projects, which may include
planning an album's release, scheduling an international tour or
coordinating press and publicity. Management interns will learn how a
management office is run and how the music industry as a whole operates.
This position is
designed for detail oriented, organized individuals who have a willingness
to learn all aspects of the business.
Hours required
Fort Apache's office hours are from 10:00am to 6:00pm. We expect to fill
all hours, Monday through Friday with a select group of interns. For
consistency and efficiency, and to provide a bona fide learning experience
for every intern, participants in the internship program are required to
work at least 16 hours a week filling two 8-hour days.
Skills Required
We expect that each intern will have a good command of the English language
as well as reasonably good typing skills. A current resume with a
well-written cover letter will be required before the first interview.
Knowledge of Macintosh computers, Microsoft Word and Filemaker is preferred.
Salary
There is no salary offered at this time for Fort Apache internships.
