Just curious if anyone else from the list will be going to this event
to see Nanci? I will again be driving up from Florida to North Carolina to see
Nanci. I am spending a little more time in town this trip. (Last time
was 24 hours "Home - Concert - Home" road trip.) So, I am wondering how
many of us Nanci Netters will be there and if any social meetings for the
"natters" have been set up.

Also, if anyone has found a good lodging deal, let me know. I will be
setting up reservations this week.

God Bless the Flyer,

Jason

Not much happening on NanciNet lately, but be sure to check her website
for a couple of new dates. Tickets just went on sale for a Nanci/John Prine
concert in Cary, NC Aug. 22. 800 miles is close enough for me. It
should be a great one.

Hello all! Hope the summer weather is kind to
you all so far (and for those on the other side
of the globe [Oz]...pull out those warm
knickers!)

Just saw the ad in the Memphis Flyer for Nanci &
The Chieftains...there was a small picture of her
inset. It's going to be a great show...I can't
wait! The ad is sort of bittersweet because
there's just 4 Chieftains now...*sniff*

Hi everyone,
I haven't been on here for a while so I thought I would jump back on
after I found out that Nanci was coming to Cary, NC on August 22. I once again
have the rare pleasure of front row seats, so if you are there I'll be in
Section 3, Row A Seat 8 at the Amphitheatre Regency Park. Come by and see me.
Now, if the whole Amphitheatre is filled with Nanci-Neters I may regret that
request so I'll get there early just in case. (What can I say, I don't
actually meet many people who share the same passion for Nanci Griffith
that I do.)

Off to search the archives while I still have internet access.

I used to live in Utah, and I went to many wonderful Nanci Griffith
concerts there in the early 1990s. One thing that I will never forget about those
concerts is that she would always play "Ford Econoline" and dedicate it
to Rosalie Sorrels, and that it was always the hit of the evening with the
audience. We all looked forward to it, and at the opening phrase "She
drove west from Salt Lake City..." a huge cheer would go up! So that's one I
would recommend for the playlist...

Other than that, I second Jason's recommendations, except I feel that
From a Distance has been done to death (ok, opening a can o' worms here?). I
would substitute It's A Hard Life or Gulf Coast Highway or Last of the True
Believers, each of which is a shining example of Nanci's incredible
songwriting talents.

I agree, and it's a shame too!

I'd agree with that too, except that IaHL and GCH have pretty much been
pounded to pemmican over the years too. Last of the True Believers has
been unfairly overlooked, as have Spin on a Red Brick Floor, and Lookin for
the Time. Also, if you can get your hands on a copy of the sound track of
the John Cougar movie Falling From Grace, there's a nugget she's never
released on an album.

Well, *I* think Cradle of the Interstate is a great tune anyway. ;-D

Does anyone out there have any info on Arlo Guthrie (maybe with Pete
Seeger-please please) at Carnegie Hall T'giving weekend? I've heard
this is more or less an annual tradition. The venue can tell me nothing. I'd
like to go this year. Anyone?

Thanks,

According to his web site (http://www.arlo.net), Arlo's scheduled to
appear at Carnegie Hall on November 29th. Tickets won't go on sale for several
months.
