Hi folks: I just read in Jon Stewart's Bloodlines that Nanci is
supposed to
be on at 10 tonight on the Trio Channel. I believe that it is the Winter
Marquee concert. They supposedly have some great music on that cable
channel. I do not have it, but will look into getting it. Jim

On a recent trip somewhere that required musical accompaniment, I put in
Nanci's much maligned OVToo for a spin, having taken it out of the
rotation
quite a while ago.
MY GOODNESS!! While I have been on the "LIKE OVTOO" side from the
beginning, this recent replay, steeped both in the passage of time and
the
innundation of the market with old-timey music, was a revelation. The
depth
of musicianship, song choice, primo vocal accompaniments and Nanci's few
solos were more than worth a review. Maybe as a 50th bday present,
some of
the naysayers might try it again...
Yarrington Town is a song after my own heart, delivered with sparse
purity
and vocal clarity that still makes the hair rise on the back of my neck.
Kind regards to all.

Better late then never I guess, I just got a post from Maggie and she
says
that it's definitely '53. She's sure because she asked the lady
herself.
Sounds like someone Tom Russell $10. (sigh>

Well I can hardly argue with that.
So I will exit the debate gracefully, bloodied but unbowed, still
puzzled
for the reasons already mentioned. Still VERY puzzled for the reasons
mentioned.....
And I'll have to pay Tom off as well!

Subject: NN: Nanci fan gathering in Memphis
Date: Wed, 9 Jul 2003 14:50:16 EDT
From: KSandersn@aol.com
Hey, guys. I am getting excited about this coming weekend. On Friday
night,
I'll be experiencing a Blast From My Past when I go see David Cassidy
at the
Gold Strike casino down in Tunica. Wonder if he can still wiggle his
hips
the same way he did when I last saw him at The Coliseum here in Memphis
in
1972? We'll see.
Then, on Saturday, it's The Chieftains & Nanci at Shelby Farms! I've
never
seen The Chieftains live before, but I am a big fan, so I'm really
looking
forward to it. I've seen Nanci probably 20 times, but this will be the
first
time in all my years of fandom to see her in my own back yard. I can
remember posting to the NN years ago whining about how Nanci never
comes to
Memphis. It's been a long wait.
I remember AnnaMac saying she was gonna be there Saturday night to see
Nanci. If Anna or anyone else who plans to be there is interested in
meeting
up beforehand, let me know. I think it would be fun to sit together and
maybe go hang out somewhere after the show.

I am taking my wife and six friends to Shelby Farms on Saturday night to
hear Nanci and the Chieftans. Got a VIP table up close..... and dinner.
Should be a really great evening unless the temp is too hot. Will
update you
all on Sunday.
Also...Caught the ACL show this past week here in Memphis and really
enjoyed
it. Nanci did a terrific job. I, too, saw her first on ACL back in the
late '80's. Remember most of all "From A Distance". Her's should have
been
a hit, not Bette Midler's version...

Sorry it took so long, but clearing the licensing, getting the copys
