Ok music lovers,
Time is running out to sign up for the Annual Nancinet Holiday Music
Exchange. If you wish to be included in this fun event, please let me
know ASAP. Also, for any of you considering the exchange, please make
sure you have plenty of time available to complete your part of the
exchange in a timely fashion. I have received a couple emails from
members who have been "shafted" over the years. That is simply not
right to do and absolutely not in the spirit of the exchange!
Hoping to hear from many, many more of you soon!

Howdy, Nancinetters!
The eagerly awaited annual arrival of the fabulous collection of live
music that was played on KGSR Radio Austin this year is now ready to be
preordered. Our aNGel isn't on this one, but she has been on previous
Broadcasts and she gets played a lot on KGSR. This year's Broadcasts
will be released Nov. 26. If you live in Austin, TX, you can go into a
store and get one of the 2-CD sets for 15 bucks, but if you live
somewhere else (dang it) you can order it from Waterloo Records in
Austin for 20 bucks plus shipping. Here's the link to the store, scroll
down a little and you'll see the Broadcasts blurb.

All proceeds go to help Austin musicians through the Sims Foundation.
Last year, $248,265.14 went to the fund from the sale of Broadcasts Vol.

I believe that song has been covered by Joan Baez, not sure if anyone
else has done it, too.

I didn't think I'd be so floored by a new album so soon after Nanci's
great HEARTS IN MIND. But, you never know when the artist is Iris
Dement.
The new LIFELINE is simply amazing and heart-rending. This comment
comes from me--a confirmed non-believer. No matter. The beauty of her
singing turned me to absolute mush...particularly after reading about
her difficult past eight years in the new issue of NO DEPRESSION:
divorce, depression, writer's block, hate mail from certain songs on her
last great album--THE WAY I SHOULD, more hate mail after she cancelled a
concert out of conscience over her tax dollars going to support the war
in Iraq, etc.
To paraphrase the album notes, her mom told a weeping Iris over the
phone, "Well, Iris, you gotta get to a 'pe-yan-a'!" She has. Don't
miss it.
